Travellers have set up a new encampment on Dundee’s Riverside Drive.
A group of 12 vehicles is now stationed on the playing fields near the Station Bridge Caf a popular spot for dog walkers and joggers.
Councillor Fraser Macpherson has asked the council to find a solution to the problem as soon as possible.
He told The Courier: “I am aware of the situation and have raised it with the council’s legal manager and other senior officers.
“I want to ensure swift action is taken.”
Earlier this year, a group of Travellers caused anger after leaving a mess at Riverside Drive.
But one member of the latest group, who did not want to be named, insisted they do their best to keep areas tidy.
He said: “We came last night as we needed somewhere to stop over, but we’ll be moving on. A lot of what gets said by people is about bags of rubbish being left, which is concerning because we try very hard to keep our areas tidy.”
In June, car parking attendants left WestFest-goers angry after ticketing many of their cars that had parked across double yellow lines just yards from where the Travellers are currently parked.
But a spokeswoman for Dundee City Council said the Travellers could not be ticketed because they had not broken any parking restrictions.
She added: “We are assessing the situation.”
The arrival of the caravans at the Riverside Drive site follows the recent arrival of 16 caravans at Jack Martin Way, near Fintry.
Yvonne Drinkwater, 66, a retired customer assistant from Fintry said: “They pitched up the other day, but I think they have mostly kept to themselves.
“It’s really about time something was done about it.
“I don’t have a problem with their way of life but every time you hear about them moving on you hear about them setting up somewhere else.
“They just bounce around.”
