More than £350,000 will be spent over the next three years to make Dundee Law more accessible and shine a new light on its history.
The funding for the Dundee Law Heritage Project aims to make exploring the hill easier, more enjoyable and more interactive.
Improvements include restoring access steps, upgrading footpaths and drainage, refurbishing seating and bollards and installing new signs.
It is also planned to undertake landscape and biodiversity improvements, including the creation of wildflower meadows and a bat habitat.
Funding will also be made available for a wide-ranging digital initiative, including a dedicated website.
It will explore the creation of the hill, its use as an iron age fort and its settlement during Roman times.
It will also look at its heritage, from the war memorial and Second World War pillbox to the hidden railway tunnel driven through its eastern flank.

The council will back the scheme with additional funding from the Community Regeneration and Heritage Lottery Funds.
Environment convener Councillor Craig Melville said: “The Dundee Law is an extremely important part of Dundee and we must work to protect it.
“These improvements will encourage people to explore the site and could hopefully lead to them having a greater involvement with the wider heritage project.”
Separate funding has also been set aside for health and safety improvements at some of the city’s most popular parks.
The £80,000 overhaul would include work at Clatto, Dawson and Dudhope parks, Castle Green, Dee Gardens, Tait’s Lane, Berwick Drive and Orchar Park.
Camperdown Country Park could have bollards and controlled access gates installed to stop drivers parking on the grass.
Mr Melville said the work was vital to ensuring everyone can make the most of Dundee’s green spaces.
“We are committed to ensuring our parks and open spaces are accessible and fun for all to enjoy and these proposed works reinforce that,” he said.
“By improving our green spaces, we are also hopeful that it will get even more people to back our Take Pride in Your City campaign.”
The two projects will be discussed at a meeting of the council’s environment committee on Monday and more information is available at www.dundeecity.gov.uk.
