Friends inspired to collect underwear for young women and children in Africa have paid tribute to the “amazing” generosity displayed by Dundonians.
Ffyona Macleish, 49, and Kymm McNiven, 41, decided to collect for charity Smalls for All, an organisation designed to provide underwear to people in poor parts of Africa, after hearing horrifying accounts of young African girls being sexually assaulted for simply not being able to afford a bra.
The duo contacted the Courier in September to raise publicity for their local underwear drive.
Now, four months later, Ffyona has been bowled over by the response of locals and has been left with “more underwear than Debenhams”
She said: “I’ve got more underwear than Debenhams at the moment, it’s been an amazing response.”
Ffyona and Kymm will now be ending their collection drive by hosting a stall at the Overgate Centre on the weekend of January 30.
