An international investigation is under way to discover the identity of a man whose body was found in the Tay off Broughty Ferry beach on Friday.
Efforts to find out who the dead man was have so far proved unsuccessful.
Officers have carried out inquiries with ships berthed at Dundee Port, where it has been confirmed all crew are accounted for, and will now extend their search to police colleagues overseas.
Checks are also being made of fingerprint and DNA databases.
The police have released an image of the personal effects a watch, sunglasses, a comb and a penknife found on the body in the hope someone will recognise them.
The man is thought to have been 40 to 50 years old and is described as being white, 6ft, stocky or heavy build, with unkempt brown hair, a receding hairline and thick greying stubble.
When discovered he was wearing a red hooded waterproof jacket, a beige long-sleeved shirt, a woollen snood, black Dunlop fingerless gloves, green hiking style trousers and navy socks but no footwear.
In his possession were a pair of orange earplugs with a small plastic box, four gold/brass keys, believed to fit three padlocks and a door, on a similar coloured metal chain found attached to the deceased’s left trouser pocket.
Anyone who recognises these items as belonging to someone they know, or knows someone fitting the description, is asked to contact the police on 101 or speak to any officer.
