A Hilltown site that has been lying bare since its multis were demolished could soon be transformed into housing if plans are approved.
The brownfield site off Dundee’s Hilltown has been lying vacant since the four Alexander Street multis were brought down in summer 2011.
Now an application has been lodged to build 35 houses and 46 flats to the eastern half of the development.
The houses will be a mix of 30 semi-detached houses and five detached.
The largest homes will be four-bedroom.
All the homes will have solar panels installed on the roofs and have their own garden.

The new clearing of the former multis and new development is part of the Hilltown Regeneration scheme, which also included the building of a new primary school on another part of the site.
Not included in the latest plan, the council intends to build a new co-located primary schools campus incorporating Rosebank Primary School, Our Lady’s Primary School and Frances Wright pre-school nursery as well as a community centre on part of the Maxwelltown site.
Dundee City Council is building the homes in partnership with Hillcrest Housing Association, but the plans do not adhere to the council’s own policies.
Six of the flats have only one bedroom, and the number which contain three bedrooms do not meet the minimum requirement across the site.
The plans state there are “material considerations” to support the building of one bedroom properties.
In their recommendation city planners said: “The application does not fully comply with policy 9 of the Dundee Local Development Plan 2014.
“However the material considerations are sufficiently strong to justify approval of planning permission.”
Some concerns have also been raised about the lack of play areas within the development.
Despite the plan not being in keeping with the Dundee Local Development Plan, Dundee City Council planning officers have recommended its approval to councillors.
No objections have been received by the council but as it is a major planning application it will be considered at the council’s development management committee on Monday.
