Businesses need to work together to take advantage of the “massive” investments being made in the city, says the new chairman of city centre group DD One.
Jon Walton, who manages the Wellgate Centre, said he is delighted with his new role.
DD One is a private sector-led partnership that tries to develop the economic potential of the city centre.
Its work has included raising money for CCTV cameras and creating a radio link system to alert stores to potential shoplifters.
It has also been behind advertising campaigns and special events such as on-street entertainment and markets to attract shoppers and promote Dundee as a major regional retail destination.
Mr Walton said: “Dundee is a city which is enjoying massive inward investment and it is vital that the business community takes advantage of this.
“Through enhanced communication, collaborative partnership and regular dialogue we will be able to ensure that customers are aware of the fantastic range of businesses and potential in Dundee.
“I think that a couple of the vitally important areas of work that we should be focusing on are city wide marketing and regular liaison with the Business Improvement District team and other stakeholders.”
