Almost 400 criminals break Community Payback Orders
ByThe Courier Reporter
Nearly 400 criminals have breached Community Payback Orders (CPOs) imposed on them by the courts in Dundee over the last four years.
Dundee City Council has spent almost £4 million since April 2011 carrying out and supervising the unpaid work of convicts, but 380 did not comply with the demands placed on them by sheriffs.
Another 107 offenders did not complete their orders due to having the demands placed on them “reviewed”.
A Dundee City Council spokeswoman said: “In 2013-14, 72% of all CPOs were completed successfully. More than 36,000 hours of unpaid work was carried out in the community on a range of worthwhile projects.”
