Pupils given advice on how to fashion a successful career
ByThe Courier Reporter
Dundee High School pupils with designs on making good career choices have been given a helping hand by Dundee-born fashion star Hayley Scanlan.
The two-time Scottish Young Fashion Designer of the Year shared some words of wisdom with 90 senior pupils at the school’s annual business breakfast.
The event enables youngsters to meet people working in careers and professions in which they are interested.
Hayley whose creations have been worn by a host of celebrities drew on her own experiences of the world of fashion and design and spoke about the importance of hard work, making the most of opportunities that come your way and social networking.
She said: “I enjoyed talking to the pupils. I wanted to get across that even though you might have lots of ups and downs in your career, you have to persevere, whether it’s good or bad.
“I also wanted to give them encouragement to do what they want to do because anything is possible if you work hard.”
Alongside Haley, around 20 other professionals involved in careers such as medicine, engineering, finance, marketing, IT and law were also present.
