A MasterChef champion has agreed to treat Dundonian diners for an extra night after the staggering demand for his pop-up restaurant.
The two nights to be served up by MasterChef: The Professionals winner Jamie Scott from Arbroath were a sell-out success within hours faster than anywhere else the chef has “popped up”.
Now the 2014 champion has added Monday November 23 to his fully-booked Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 November dates.
He said: “The demand was amazing. I don’t think we expected it to sell out so quickly. We are doing one in Glasgow and it is selling fast but not that fast.
“It really is a good time for the industry in Dundee. It is nice to have a full restaurant and if people want to come out at short notice that is great.”
The pop-up restaurant will be hosted in newly-opened restaurant Pacamara at 302 Perth Road.
Jamie added: “I can’t wait. I’ve got a really good team to do the pop-up with me. It’s hard work but good fun.”
The six-course tasting menu costs £60 per person with a £20 deposit for each booking.
The Perth Road venue had previously devoted itself to caf opening hours as Espress Oh!, but has now been granted a late licence and a new brand name Pacamara.
Owner Barry Thomson said he was delighted the TV chef took up his offer for his pop-up restaurant.
He said: “I noticed that he did a pop-up in Arbroath and got in touch with him.
“The timings were perfect for him and for us. The location worked out well as Jamie likes smaller venues and the layout is perfect for him, so he can plate up food along the bar and talk to people about each course.”
