Dundee Sports Awards celebrate a year of achievement

Community stars were recognised at the annual Dundee Sports Awards held at the Caird Hall.

The sportsperson of the year award went to ice skater Karly Robertson, while volunteer of the year was Sandy Bremner.

Chic Mitchell was named coach of the year and Jimmy Brown was given the community coach of the year award.

The young volunteer of the year award went to Kirsty Reynolds and the young sportsperson of the year award was presented to Mark Stewart.

Club of the year was Dundee Hawkhill Harriers and the young team of the year was the Forfarshire Cricket Club U15s.

The team of the year award was presented to Dundee Gymnastics Club 2K and the school sporting achievement award went to Grove Academy senior football team.

The Jenny Wood Allen award went to Brandon Buchan and the lifetime commitment award was presented to Dick Auchinleck.

Lord Provost Bob Duncan said: “It gives me great pleasure to see so many people involved in local sport gaining deserved recognition for their efforts and achievements.

“This event allows the city to honour the volunteers, coaches, athletes, clubs and teams who have given so much to their chosen sport and achieved great success.”

Dundee Sports Awards are organised by Leisure and Culture Dundee, working in partnership with Dundee City Council.

The awards event was sponsored by Protecting People in Dundee.
