Broughty Ferry youngsters are struggling to find a pitch to play on after Gillies Park was closed for safety reasons.
Officials are now calling for better management of the public football pitches, after rock-hard goalmouths with stones sticking through presented a hazard.
Broughty United use the pitch and club president, George Ferguson, said children could have been hurt.
He said: “The goalmouths were dangerous. The grass was worn away and the ground was hard and there were stones coming through it.”
The set of public pitches at Gillies Park is the third in the area to be closed for maintenance and has meant 14 youth clubs, many of which have two teams, will be forced to train on just three pitches that remain open.
A Dundee City Council spokesman said: “These closures were arranged with the agreement of the Dundee and District Youth Football Association to allow the improvement of playing surfaces.
“The pitches at Gillies and Claypotts are nearly ready, while a pitch has still been available at Orchar.”
