Online bid to fund fitting funeral for Lochee ‘character’ Pauline Smith

A homeless Lochee woman’s sudden death has sparked an online campaign to pay for her funeral.
Newspaper vendor Pauline Smith was well known in the area and news of her death from a heart attack on Monday prompted those who knew her to start fundraising.
Organisers hope to raise £3,000 for the funeral and service, to be conducted by the Rev Jeremy Aild for free, otherwise she will receive a basic, council-assisted burial.
Catherine Lawson, who started the fundraising page, said: “Pauline was a local character touching the hearts of many and her friends and all who knew her will sadly miss her cheery smile and quick wit.”
Pauline also helped raise almost £900 for cancer charities and had her head shaved for the cause.
