Baxter Park pavilion fire being treated as suspicious by police

Police are now investigating a suspicious fire that took hold of a historic building in Dundee’s Baxter Park.
It is thought the fire in the single story Old Pavilion was started deliberately after a wheelie bin was set on fire.
The fire took hold of the outside of the building and firefighters had to use breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to gain entry.
The building is owned by the council and a spokesman said: “The council is currently assessing the damage.”
A spokeswoman for police Scotland’s Tayside Division confirmed officers are investigating the incident and the fire was being treated as suspicious.
She said: “Police Scotland can confirm that officers attended a report of a fire at the South East Pavilion in Baxter Park at around 9.15pm on Thursday night.
“Enquiries are continuing into the incident.
“Anyone with information that could assist officers with their enquires is asked to contact police on 101.”
