The victim of the fatal fire at Piperdam has today been officially named as 26-year old Jamie McLennan of Aberdeen more than two weeks after his death.
The cause of the fire that claimed his life has, however, yet to be established and both police officers and fire experts are continuing to investigate.
Emergency services rushed to the Piperdam Golf and Leisure Resort on September 24 after flames engulfed a luxury lodge.
The damage was so extensive that it was not until more than 24 hours later that Mr McLennan’s body was discovered amidst the charred debris.
He had last been seen getting into a taxi near the Grosvenor Casino in Dundee at around 3.30am on September 24, just four hours before the blaze that claimed his life occurred.
Family members paid tribute to him in the wake of the grim discovery, though there had yet to be official confirmation.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Enquiries are continuing into the cause of the fire.
“As with all sudden deaths a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
