Police are hunting a man accused of vicious assaults on his ex-partners allegedly brandishing an axe at one and attacking another in a bath tub.
Ryan Lawson was due to go on trial accused of nine domestic abuse charges but failed to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court, where a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Lawson is alleged to have targeted the first woman, Ann-Marie Melville, between March 1 and April 30 2014.
Prosecutors say over that period Lawson repeatedly grabbed and squeezed her head, pushed her, placed his fist on her head and applied pressure and brandished an axe above his head.
He is then alleged to have repeatedly struck her on the head, grabbed her hair, thrown her across a room, repeatedly seized her by the neck and restricted her breathing with his hand over her mouth to the danger of her life.
Lawson is then said to have attacked another woman, Leanna Nicolson, between January 13 and 29 last year.
It is alleged he seized her throat, pushed her down, pulled her into a bath tub, struck her head and body with his hands and punched her on the head and body.
In one incident, on January 15 last year, he is said to have slapped her head.
On another, on January 29, he is said to have repeatedly punched her head and body and pushed her to the floor.
Lawson faces further charges of approaching Miss Nicolson after being released on bail from court on March 4 last year and of assaulting her by repeatedly biting her on the face to her injury.
In all, Lawson, 24, of Dundee, denies nine charges.
