Steve Rider’s sporting stories a big hit at Dundee Rotary charity dinner
ByThe Courier Reporter
TV sports presenter Steve Rider was the headline speaker at Dundee Rotary Club’s 30th annual charity dinner.
The former anchorman of BBC’s Grandstand and Sportsnight as well as ITV’s World of Sport entertained the hundreds of guests with fascinating accounts of interviewing sporting stars at their moments of greatest triumph or despair.
The room also erupted in laughter as Rider described working alongside legends including Peter Alliss and Murray Walker.
Also on the speaker line-up at Friday’s event in the Invercarse Hotel was Yorkshire solicitor and raconteur Ian Shuttleworth.
The dinner is a major fundraiser for the club and since 1985 has raised tens of thousands of pounds for local and national good causes.
