Menzieshill young mums’ unit teacher sent home indefinitely
ByThe Courier Reporter
The principal teacher of the young mums’ unit at Menzieshill has been told to go home after council chiefs claimed she was unfit for work.
Norma Seith was asked to leave the school on Friday and not return until further notice.
She was told she could not return to her job until she had visited an occupational therapist.
It is also claimed Mrs Seith was told she had behaved unprofessionally after discussing her circumstances with a colleague, amid plans to restructure the unit and remove her post.
She had been signed off for a month but after only seven days’ absence her GP told her she was fit to return.
She had only been back 48 hours before being told to leave.
Her husband Bob said: “They accused her of allowing her behaviour to fall below a professional standard. This is completely outrageous.”
Clare McGraw, whose daughter Sophia attends the unit, is behind the campaign to keep the unit and maintain its present structure.
She said she had every confidence in Mrs Seith.
