Lochee Medical Practice has just two GPs serving more than 5,000 people and has struggled for nearly a year to fill a third post. “We have two GPs covering 5,113 patients more than the recommended average per doctor,” said practice manager Wendy Calder. “It’s very hard for GPs to manage at the moment due to increasing workloads and we can’t continue to take on new patients. “We’ve got to think what’s safe.” Prior to closing its list, the practice had already restricted the area it supported to patients within the DD1, DD2 and DD3 postcodes. Dundee-based MSP Jenny Marra visited the Lochee practice to speak to staff and said: “We have a national crisis on our doorstep”.
