MSP wants elected figurehead for Dundee V&A project

A city-wide election should be held to hand-pick a czar to oversee the V&A Dundee project, according to North East MSP Jenny Marra.
Writing in Friday’s Courier, the Dundee-based politician says she wants to see every aspect of the ambitious development become transparent and the decisions accountable.
She has called for a Dundonian with the “trust” of the people of the city to be placed at the head of Dundee Design Limited (DDL).
Ms Marra wants that man or woman to be the public face of the £80.5 million project, making sure that its progress is relayed to residents.
In a bid to increase transparency yet further, the MSP has also called for DDL to step from the shadows and begin holding its meetings in public.
She believes citizens should be able to “watch as decisions are made about spending millions and transforming our city” and has called for renewed efforts to involve Dundonians in every aspect of the development.
In tandem with the calls, Ms Marra is also full of praise for the ambition shown in bringing the V&A to Dundee.
