Award-winning Dundee fashion designer Hayley Scanlan has walked free from court after assault charges against her were thrown out. She was accused of attacking the father of her twin sons, John Thomson, outside the Duke’s Corner pub on March 4. The 30-year-old had always protested her innocence saying she acted in self defence. Ms Scanlan was due to stand trial at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday but the case was thrown out after Mr Thomson failed to appear to give evidence. The designer said she was “really glad” and happy to put the whole thing behind her. For more on this story see Thursday’s Courier or try our digital edition.
