Travellers leave one Dundee camp only to set up another
ByThe Courier Reporter
A group of travellers left one illegal camp in Dundee on Tuesday but set up in another one a few hundred yards away.
An estimated 30 caravans and vehicles arrived on empty ground off Charles Bowman Drive in the Claverhouse industrial estate on Monday afternoon and were told to leave as they did not have permission to be there.
They did not go far, however.
By yesterday afternoon they had moved to the other side of Forfar Road by settling on roadways off Jack Martin Way.
A Dundee City Council spokesman said: “Council officers served notices on them to quit the site. The council is working with Tayside Police.”
The council operates an official site for travellers at Balmuir Wood.
