The campaign to drum up interest in Dundee’s commemoration of the First World War took its first steps with an event on Wednesday.
Rare and historic First World War material from the McManus and Dundee Central Libraries were on show at the event, which took place in the Central Library, Wellgate.
Highlights of the day included the launch of a new book on the 4th Battalion Black Watch, “Dundee’s Ain” and the official launch of a Children’s Book Prize Competition, with £2,500 going to the best novel for children about Dundee during the war.
Performers also attended the event, including Sheena Wellington, who led the Wighton Singers in their performance of an ensemble of wartime songs and the Joot Theatre Company, who performed wartime poems.
There were also 70 pupils from Forthill Primary School, as well as experts on military and Dundee history.
