An award-winning chef from Monifieth is to get his own cooking show on American television.
Simon Brown, 30, a former Scottish Young Chef of the Year, was invited to the Knoe 8 TV studios in Monroe, Lousiana, to talk about his career.
His interview led to a live cooking show that was aired last week, and his demonstration went down so well that he has been given a weekly hour-long cooking feature starting next month.
The former Monifieth High pupil won the Young Chef of the Year award at a restaurant in Glasgow, where he met his future wife Jennifer who came to Scotland as a student from her native Lousiana.
They went back to the States and married, and Simon’s career has gone from strength to strength.
He has cooked for some of the world’s biggest music stars at the Grammys and has shared a kitchen with a leading American Cajun chef.
His regular spot on US television follows a visit to his restaurant by a prominent food blogger who was so impressed that she invited him appear in front of the camera.
He was introduced as “an acclaimed chef from Scotland” who found his way to the States through love.
His mother said: “Simon’s doing so well in the States and we’re very proud of him.”
