Dundee’s Lord Provost unveiled a new Peace Pole for the city during a weekend of events to mark International Peace Day. Bob Duncan uncovered the new monument, symbolising a shared wish for world peace.
The unveiling was accompanied by a peaceful reflection led by local Buddhist teacher and interfaith champion Lama Jiga and a World Peace Flag ceremony.Dr Julie Wardrop of Nilupul said: “We are thrilled to be finally planting a Peace Pole in Dundee and we hope that all of this year’s Peace Day events will be an inspiration.

The idea was first thought up by Masahisa Goi in 1955 in Japan.
