A pub landlady says she is “sickened” after her venue was hit by a £1,000 raid including money for a children’s Christmas party.
The Kettledrum Bar on South Road was broken into in the early hours, with the thief making off with cash including staff wages and clothes.
The culprit also stole the contents of a fund that had been set up to pay for the Dundee bar’s annual children’s bash, due to be held in December.
Leaseholder Doreen Rowan has appealed for any information that might catch those responsible.
Doreen, 53, said: “It was the back of 2am on the Sunday that it happened.
“Police came to my door because the alarm had gone off. They picked me up and took me there.
“The burglar had kicked in the glass in the door. I don’t know how they got the shutter up, but they broke that as well.
“As soon as they got in, the alarm would have gone off but they’ve gone about it like they had all the time in the world.
“We’ve got them on CCTV but it is too dark to see who it was. It is just totally sickening.
“The staff wages get left in a cupboard and they pick them up on a Saturday.
“However, three of them had not picked them up that Saturday and they were stolen.
“We also have two bonus ball funds worth £90 in total that were taken.
“They also stole two coats and two T-shirts but they didn’t take any drink. I worked it out to be about £800 they took, but with the damage to the door, it has probably worked out to be about £1,000.”
Police Scotland said they were investigating a break-in at the pub on August 30.
