Afternoon shoppers looked on as police carried out a raid on an ice cream shop in Dundee.
Officers were seen entering Ianetta’s in the Hilltown around 2pm on Wednesday.
Scene of crime officers spent the afternoon searching the premises before the operation was stood down.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the shop on Mains Road closed off to the public during the probe.
A uniformed officer was stationed on the door of the premises to prevent anyone entering the scene.
An officer wearing blue gloves was seen lifting jars of sweets from the shop window.
A police presence remained at the premises into the late afternoon and access to the rear of the site was guarded.
One witness said: “I don’t know what’s going on, just that there are police outside the ice cream shop.
“They have been there for a while.
“It looked as though they were checking all the jars in the shop window for something.”
People visiting nearby businesses and shops stopped to watch the officers as they entered Ianetta’s.
The incident sparked speculation on social media.
One person posted a picture of a police van parked beside the Hilltown clock just off Main Street.
They said: “Something going on at Mains Road, Hilltown. “Police standing guard at a close beside the sweet shop.
“Police now standing at the back and at the front of the property.”
Ianetta’s sells a variety of confectionery items including sweets, chocolates and gum.
A police spokesman said: “We did attend at a property at 23 Mains Road this afternoon and resources have now been stood down.”
