A “naive” 20-year-old Dundee man tattooed a girl who was under the legal age.
Jordon Millar of Kirkton Place admitted at Dundee Sheriff Court that on May 7 he had tattooed the girl, who was 16, contrary to the Tattooing of Minors Act.
He also admitted on the same date carrying on a business which provided tattooing without having a licence.
The depute fiscal told the court Millar had stated the girl was “a friend of a friend.”
He also indicated he had some idea that it was an offence to tattoo people under 18. Millar disposed of the equipment he used.
Theo Findlay, defending, said: “He’s unemployed and quite naive. He simply wants to get on with his life.”
Sentencing, Sheriff Tom Hughes said: “There are quite clear regulations for this and only certain people are allowed to carry this out for health and safety reasons.”
He said the regulations also ensured only those of the correct age could get a tattoo.
He deferred sentence to March 27 for Millar to stay out of trouble.
