A controversial council planning brief designed to redevelop a former Dundee school site has been changed after an outcry from the community.
Dundee City Council development committee convener Will Dawson revealed amendments had been made to proposals for Kingspark School on Gillburn Road.
Local residents had been fighting to keep green space near the site with some voicing fears the community would be left with just 25% of available land.
Dog owner Graham Low previously told The Courier that the plans needed to be revised.
Mr Dawson said the council has made amendments to the planning brief after listening to the calls for more open space to be included.
The development committee is now preparing to recommend a change to the draft which would create an east to west area of recreational land, as well as ensuring access for maintenance and the retention of a number of trees.
Mr Dawson said the council would find a good use for the site as a matter of urgency.
He added: “As part of the process of creating a planning brief for the site we were pleased to be able to listen to the views of local people who use the land on a daily basis.
“They spoke and we have listened by bringing forward an alternative.
“I am confident that the final planning brief will help to find a positive use for this high quality redevelopment opportunity that we would like to see developed as soon as possible.”
Developers looking to build at the site will have a broad outline of what the council expects if the redevelopment guidance is agreed at the city development committee on Monday.
The committee approved a draft site planning brief in December 2014, and invited 86 local residents living next to the site to comment.
Over the six-week consultation, 27 responses were received from interested parties including developers, the local community planning partnership and housing associations.
