Four men who admitted being involved in a mass assault on a city centre street last year are to appear for sentence at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday.
Five men initially appeared on 14 charges of assault and breach of the peace but one man’s plea of not guilty to the only charge he faced was accepted by the Crown and he was freed from the dock.
Scott Christopher Phillip Fraser, 23, of Catterline Crescent, Dundee, Terry Montgomery, 21, of Priory Gateway, Birmingham, Brian Borland, 24, of Pitairlie Road, Dundee, and Bobby Lee Borland, 21, Waterside Street, West Bromwich,all admitted reduced charges, which were accepted by the Crown shortly before all five were due to go on trial before a jury.
Depute fiscal Keith Robertson asked for time to prepare a written narrative and Sheriff Alastair Brown said he would adjourn the case until Monday for that to be prepared.
Fraser admitted that on July 18 last year, at South Ward Road, he assaulted a person whose identity is unknown to the prosecutor and kicked him on the head, while on bail.
Montgomery admitted that on the same date and place, he assaulted a person unknown, punched him on the head and knocked him to the ground, assaulted Andrew Hodge, repeatedly punched him on the head, all to his injury, and also behaved in a threatening or abusive manner, acted aggressively, challenged police officers to fight, threatened them with violence and refused to surrender to them.
Brian Borland admitted assaulting six people, including Donald Stewart, Rory Stewart, Thomas Rough and Callum Webster and two persons unknown rendering four of them unconscious and behaving in a threatening orabusive manner, acting aggressively, challenging police officers to fight, threatening them with violence and refusing to surrender.
Bobby Lee Borland admitted he assaulted Andrew Hodge, repeatedly punched him on the head, all to his injury.
Andrew Montgomery, 29, also of Priory Gateway, Birmingham, had his plea of not guilty to assault accepted.
