Man admits battering victim’s head off wall during attack in Dundee
ByThe Courier Reporter
A thug who battered another man’s head off a wall, knocking him out, was remanded in custody for reports.
Scott Alan Lawrence, 33, walked casually away as his victim lay unconscious in the street while friends tried to help him.
The incident was captured on CCTV and police officers were there in seconds to arrest him as he made his way to a nearby pub.
Lawrence, a prisoner at Perth, admitted at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday, that he assaulted Ryan Penman on November 10 last year in Ward Road by seizing him by the head and body and striking his head against a wall, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.
The court heard Mr Penman was taken to Ninewells Hospital where he received stitches and has a permanent scar.
Depute fiscal Nicola Gillespie showed the CCTV footage of the incident in the court where the assault was clearly seen, with Lawrence walking away before being detained by police officers.
Solicitor Paul Parker Smith told the court there had been a previous incident between the pair, who had known each other since schooldays, 18 months previously.
Lawrence was remanded in custody for reports until March 10.
