Police say the local community holds the key to putting this ruthless knife raider behind bars.
It is now more than two weeks since a teenage shop worker was subjected to a terrifying ordeal as a raider threatened her with a 12-inch knife before stealing a three-figure sum of cash.
Detectives investigating the robbery at the Super City News convenience store in Dundee’s Lochee Road believe the identity of the man responsible lies within the local community.
Detective Inspector Wayne Morrison said: “We are continuing our enquiries and lots of good information is coming in from members of the public.
“We know that someone out there knows who is responsible and are confident that they have additional information which could help us catch the person responsible.
“The shop has been forensically examined and fingerprinted and together with CCTV footage of the incident we are starting to piece together a profile of the person responsible.
“This incident has not only caused a great deal of upset and anxiety for the shopkeeper and his family but also the wider community.
“This man threatened a young girl with a knife. He needs to be caught. It’s highly likely that he has either told someone or someone knows who he is and I would urge them to get in touch.”
Shop owner Tahir Mahmood previously told The Courier that his family are now scared to work in the shop after the shocking attack.
The raid happened about 1.30pm on Friday January 31.
The man entered the store and threatened the female shop assistant with a knife before stealing money and running off.
The shop assistant was shaken as a result of the incident, but was uninjured.
The man is described as being aged between 20 and 30, 5ft 10 in, of slim build, wearing a dark coloured hooded jacket, jeans and white coloured trainers.
