Police officers from across Scotland were involved in a string of raids against serious organised crime suspects in Tayside.

Addresses in Dundee and Arbroath were targeted as part of Operation Shrug, an Angus-led operation aimed at smashing an identified organised crime group’s drugs distribution network.

Drugs squad officers were joined by colleagues from across the county, as well as other areas including Aberdeen, in the raids, which began in Dundee.

Police Scotland Angus divisional commander, Chief Inspector Gordon Milne said: “This is a major disruption operation. We are hitting them harder than we have ever hit them before. It is a really tough approach.”

The strategic aim of Operation Shrug is not to simply recover drugs but to disrupt and ultimately dismantle the identified serious crime group in order to halt their activities.”

The Courier was given exclusive access to the operation on the streets of Tayside.
