Firefighters have warned of the risks of wheelie bin fires after an incident in Menzieshill.
A bin fire was reported in Charleston Drive, near Spey Drive, shortly before 1am on Tuesday and when crews arrived they found the flames had spread to the adjacent house.
Firefighters tackled the blaze and once it was out they carried out a thorough search of the property to make sure there was nobody inside.
The house was being renovated and a large amount of debris had been placed in two wheelie bins and left next to it, including old carpets and a mattress.
Police said the fire was being treated as suspicious and appealed for anyone with information to call 101.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “Once again this highlights how important it is not to leave large quantities of rubbish close to a building.
“Should a fire start accidentally or be started deliberately the chances of extensive damage being caused are increased. Our advice is to ensure that all rubbish is left well away from a building and uplifted at the earliest opportunity.
“Wheelie bin fires can start very quickly and be extremely dangerous, particularly if near property.”
