The organisers of a recent celebration to mark the 150th anniversary of Baxter Park are urging those who attended to share their photos of the day.

The group want people to upload picture and videos to the event Facebook page so they can have a comprehensive record of the day.

Organiser Kenny Crooks said: “You never know, it might be referred to by those who put together the 200th anniversary programme in 2063.”

Hundreds of people attended the celebration last month and joined in the procession from Trinity Church.

Mr Crooks said: “Along the route there were people hanging out of their windows and coming out of their houses and the pubs to watch and cheer. It really was a great atmosphere.

“A lot of these people were taking photos and videos of the procession and there were a lot being taken of the various activities in the park too, particularly ones of kids with the soldiers, on the carousel, playing the old street games and in the basket of the hot-air balloon.”

Mr Crooks thanked all those who organised the various activities and attractions.

“I would particularly single out Elizabeth Robb, the volunteer worker from Dundee Heritage Trust who ran the old street games stall for the whole four hours after a colleague who was going to relieve her half-way through took ill at the last minute, and to the girls from Morgan Academy who assisted Elizabeth,” he said.

“The gunners from 7 Battery Royal Artillery, Condor, Bombardier Donald and his team, deserve a special mention too. They gave up what would otherwise have been a relaxing Sunday off to come along and add to the theme of replicating the events of 1863.”
