More than £500,000 worth of drugs have been seized in Tayside during the first seven months of a police operation.
Drugs worth £553,860 have been plucked from the hands of dealers under Operation Slate.
And 1,386 people have been charged with various drug offences following the busts around the region.
More than 20 different types of drugs have been lifted by officers, from some of the most common, like heroin, to lesser known substances such as methylmeth- cathinone, often known as mephedrone or meow-meow.
Superintendent Graeme Murdoch, operations superintendent for Tayside Division, said Operation Slate had been a “success” and there would be no let-up in the crackdown on drug dealing in the area.
He said: “We launched Operation Slate after we identified drugs supply and possession of drugs as particular local targets this year.
“Drugs continue to feature as a subject of real concern in our communities, not only due to the harm and misery they cause but also due to the levels of violence and disorder that often goes hand-in-hand with drug dealing.”
