A man was lucky to avoid serious injury after his car flipped on to its roof on a Dundee road on New Year’s morning.
Emergency services rushed to Clepington Road, near the Kingsway West retail park, at around 10.10am after reports of a single-vehicle incident.
There they found a badly smashed Ford Focus lying on its roof on the wrong side of the road.
The driver’s condition is unknown but the ambulance service confirmed that no one was taken to hospital.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We attended a crash at Clepington road At 10.10am, but we didn’t take anyone to hospital.”
Several eye-witnesses said they had seen the driver climb out of the car and leave the scene after the crash.
One of them said: “He crawled out the back without a scratch, after single car accident on straight level part of Clepington Road, east of the retail park, and ran off.
“The car took out a lamppost before coming to rest. Had there been a passenger they would have been crushed.
“Fortunately there was not one and no one else involved.”
Police were unavailable for comment.
