A security guard struck by a lorry outside a construction site remains on a ventilator in hospital. The 54-year-old man became trapped underneath the HGV outside Harris Academy on Perth Road on Friday. He was freed by firefighters and taken to Ninewells Hospital, where doctors placed him in a coma. The security guard, who has not been named, remains in a “critical but stable” condition in hospital. It has since emerged he was working for Tayside Group at the time of the incident. Stephen Mudie, group operations director, described him as a “fantastic guy”. He said: “He suffered crush injuries, including a broken ankle and a broken collar bone. “He is badly bruised and swollen, but he suffered no head injuries. “The latest update we had was that he is doing a lot better than he has been. “We met with his family yesterday and he appears to have been taken out of an induced coma.”
