An 18-year-old woman was due to appear in court in South Africa charged with murdering a Tayside pensioner. Sandra Malcolm, originally from Monifieth, was found reportedly hacked to death inside her Cape Town home last month. The 74-year-old’s grandson found her body inside her flat at Capri Mews complex, Marina Da Gama, sparking a hunt for her alleged killer. South African news networks reported that her body had been mutilated by her attackers, although police would not confirm this. Police have confirmed that an 18-year-old suspect has been charged with Mrs Malcolm’s murder and was expected to appear in court today. South African Police spokesman Captain FC Van Wyke said: “The suspect is in custody and will appear in court.”
