Following weeks of delays, staff at Dundee’s Malmaison hotel are “excited” it has finally opened its doors.
The hotel, decorated in cool dark hues of purple and black, opened on Monday for pre-booked and invited guests. It will be open to the public from next Monday.
The boutique hotel had been due to open on December 1, before severe flooding damaged several rooms, the brasserie and the lobby.

However, the hotel, which now employs more than 100 people, seems to have totally recovered from the incident, and general manager Claire Livingstone said staff were eager to “show the hotel off”.
She said: “The troubles have had a negative effect on the team and we are all very excited to finally be opening and see customers instead of workmen.
“This week is a chance to give our team the time to prepare for the grand opening.
“That will be on the 10th (of February) and we will have a big opening party in the coming weeks.”
Brasserie manager Chris Sarandis moved all the way from Adelaide in Australia to work at the hotel and says he is keen to get started.
“We have all been just itching to get started,” he said.
“I took the job because I had wanted to move overseas for a while and Malmaison is a boutique hotel that we don’t have in Australia, and that appealed to me.
“I like taking risks and Malmaison is a great company to work for.”
