Broughty Ferry flats evacuated amid fears of chimney collapse in high winds

Strong winds have forced Broughty Ferry residents from their homes after their chimney was deemed unsafe.
Three flats in Broughty Ferry’s King Street have been evacuated after engineers deemed the chimney unsafe.
A section of King Street is to remain partially closed until the roof can be made safe.
Other residents living nearby have been given advised by the engineer.
Firefighters were called shortly after 4pm and a spokeswoman said: “The chimney has been deemed unsafe by engineers. The occupants of three flats have left the block.”
It is the second consecutive evening of disruption in the Ferry after a section of Fort Street and Queen Street had to be closed on Friday when high winds ripped off a large section of signage from a tyre and exhaust repair garage.
