The cameras will roll once again for the new adventures of fictional Dundee cheeseburger magnate and failed politician Bob Servant.
Hollywood star Brian Cox will reprise his role as the plucky Broughty Ferry pensioner in a three-part BBC series called simply Bob Servant, which begins filming in May.
Dundee writer Neil Forsyth told The Courier he was thrilled to be re-commissioned for a second series.
“I’m delighted that Bob will be back on the telly,” he said.
“As always, he’s proven that if you knock him down then he’ll just lie there until you think he’s dead, and then very slowly get back up.”
The new series will be broadcast on BBC Scotland and BBC4 and the cast and crew will return to Bob’s home turf.
Neil said: “As before, all external stuff will be shot in Broughty Ferry. Some internal scenes will be shot in Glasgow to save money.
“But Bob’s house, the harbour, the beach, they’re all in the scripts. Particularly the harbour, Bob has big, big plans for the harbour.”
Dundee-born Brian Cox will once again don Bob’s trademark leather jacket and bonnet for the role.
He is starring in West End play The Weir and has recently filmed a Western called Redemption in Canada with Donald and Keifer Sutherland.
Neil said: “As always Brian’s been a great supporter. The problem with having a Hollywood star as your lead actor though, is he’s pretty tricky to nail down.
“We were set to go last autumn but his play in London picked up a long West End run, but I’m very pleased he’s managed to fit us in now.”
The new show picks up after Bob’s disastrous attempt in the first series to stand as the MP for Broughty Ferry.
