Residents in the west of Dundee and out towards the Carse of Gowrie woke this morning to discover problems with the area’s water supply.
Scottish Water apologised and said it was investigating reports of loss of supply in the DD2 and PH14 areas.
Locals took to Twitter to report the problems.
The Shaftesbury House Lodge in Dundee tweeted: “Arrrggg, a full house and no mains water in DD2 this morning!”
Another user posted: “No water, so the whole of Dundee will be hummin’ today!”
West End ward councillor Richard McCready contacted Scottish Water saying: “I’d be grateful to be kept up to date with issues in DD2 area, constituents are very concerned about lack of water supply.”
Scottish Water said: “We have had reports of loss of water supply, low pressure and discoloured water from the area. This is currently under investigation and we hope to have supplies restored as quickly as possible.”
In an update shortly after 11am, the company said the problem had been fixed and supplies would begin to return to normal.
A spokesman said: “Supplies will slowly start returning to those customers affected in DD2 and PH14. As supplies fully restore customers may experience some discolouration to their water, rest assured this is perfectly safe to use.
“In order to clear this you should run just your cold kitchen tap at half pressure until the water stream runs clear.”
