Dundee man in court accused of beating victim with bat

A man accused of beating his victim with a bat to steal 25p, two lighters, cigarette papers, tobacco and a phone appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Steven Mitchell, 26, of Cunningham Street, Dundee, is alleged to have assaulted the man with his fists and a wooden bat to his injury, as well as robbing the man of the items, sometime last Friday or Saturday. Mitchell is further charged with the possession of diazepam, a class C drug, on the same day.
He made no plea or declaration during the short hearing before Sheriff Tom Hughes.
The case against him was continued for further examination and Mitchell was remanded in custody until his next appearance.
