A Dundee man viciously attacked a 53-year-old multiple sclerosis sufferer at a family wedding in Angus.
Paul Douglas Larnyoh appeared at Arbroath Sheriff Court on Tuesday after the brutal assault at the Forbes of Kingennie resort near Wellbank.
The 43-year-old, of Arklay Street, admitted assaulting the disabled man on July 14 by approaching him from the rear and repeatedly punching him on the head to his injury.
The court heard the victim attended the wedding with his support dog as his condition causes him to be “unsteady on his feet”.
At about 6pm, the man took his dog outside to feed it and was approached by Larnyoh, who asked to speak to him. Fearing an attack the man turned away and began to walk off.
“The accused approached him from the rear and punched him to the left of the jaw from behind,” depute fiscal Hazel Anderson said.
“As the complainer walked away the accused then punched him to the right side of the jaw.
“The second punch distressed the complainer to the extent that he tried to get away. However, the accused then punched him again to the left side of the jaw.”
Some of the wedding guests became aware of the assault and Larnyoh was asked to leave.
Sheriff Gregor Murray sentenced Larnyoh to six months’ imprisonment.
