Dundee’s Malmaison hotel has been forced to delay its opening after flooding damaged 15 bedrooms.
The luxury hotel, which was due to open on Sunday, has yet to confirm a new opening date.
All bookings, including a 170-seat reservation for Dundee FC’s 120th anniversary dinner on Saturday night, have been cancelled.
A source told The Courier the dinner organisers have now “moved heaven and earth” and have managed to find an alternative venue at the Old Course Hotel, St Andrews.
The source said: “The whole night has been relocated to the Old Course.
“As was already arranged, guests have to be at the Andy Penman suite at Dens Park at 6.45pm and from there buses will transport everyone over to St Andrews.”
The flooding was reported in the early hours of Thursday morning, after water was seen flowing down the side of the building.
Malmaison Dundee had not responded to repeated requests for comment by the time of going to press and it is unknown when a new opening will be.
