Former Tayside firemaster Derek Marr has died at the age of 64 after a battle against cancer.
Mr Marr was originally from Arbroath and began his career with the fire service in 1969. He served at stations throughout Angus before moving to Perth where he was assistant divisional officer and later divisional commander.
In 1988 he was made deputy firemaster and two years later he reached the top post. He was awarded the OBE for his service in 1999 and he retired in 2001.
His hobbies included golf, reading and DIY. The Marrs lived in Broughty Ferry and Mr Marr is survived by his wife Edna, son Steven, who is a police sergeant in London, and daughter Joy, who is an accountant with Angus Council.
