ByThe Courier Reporter
A Kirkton pensioner has appeared in court accused of fraudulently claiming more than £26,000 in benefits.
Jane Allardice, 60, of Beauly Avenue, faces three charges of allegedly obtaining benefits she was not entitled to between August 2007 and February this year.
Prosecutors allege Allardice knowingly failed to inform the Department for Work and Pensions her partner Ronald Henderson was living with her and she obtained £21,000 in Income Support between August 2007 and September 2012 she was not entitled to.
She is also accused of claiming £3,884 in Housing Benefit and £1,409 in Jobseekers’ Allowance she was not entitled to.
Allardice made no plea or declaration during a short hearing in private before Sheriff Kenneth McGowan on Wednesday.
The case was continued and she was granted bail.
