A woman had to be pulled from her flat as she battled an early morning kitchen blaze in Dundee.
Michelle Mitchell, 32, woke up to discover the kitchen in her Cotton Road home was on fire.
She and a male occupant of the flat both had to be rescued by firefighters.
Michelle said: “Everything is destroyed in my kitchen.
“I don’t know how the fire started. I woke up and the kitchen was on fire.
“The fire brigade came in when I was trying to get out it was terrifying.
“They managed to put the fire out but it has destroyed everything in my kitchen.
“I don’t feel like I can live here any more my kitchen is ruined.
“I have asthma and the smoke is making me feel like I can’t breathe. I’ve just been left here I don’t know what I am going to do.”
A spokesman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said they received a call at 6.52am on Friday reporting a fire at a ground-floor flat in Cotton Road.
He added: “Two people were rescued by firefighters and received treatment for smoke inhalation.
“The fire was brought under control by 7.12am but units were in attendance for a short time after that.
“Four firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to douse the flames.
“A thermal imaging camera and a fitting for ventilation were also used during the operation.”
