Up to 5,000 local people could lose their say in the general election after a printing problem meant postal votes will be delayed.
The issue will impact on those living in the Angus areas of the Dundee East and West constituencies, with the necessary forms not expected to arrive until the middle of next week.
Postal voting packs began arriving this week but with the election less than two weeks away worries have been expressed that people in Monifieth, Carnoustie and Birkhill could now lose out.
A spokesman for the electoral registration office said: “While this may not create any issues for voters who can wait until then to get their postal packs, it could impact on people who have asked for a postal vote if they are leaving for holidays before then.
“Anyone in this situation should contact 01382 434444 and we will ensure that no one is disenfranchised,” added the spokesman.
