Dundee and Angus College depute principal Grant Ritchie is to succeed Christina Potter when she steps down from the post of principal in August.
Mr Ritchie was responsible for the £49 million development and refurbishment of the Gardyne Campus and the creation of dance and performance venue The Space.
Last year, when he was in charge of the curriculum, the college returned its best ever set of performance indicators, with good results in student attainment and retention.
He said: “The main challenge I perceive in future is working with partners to ensure that the Dundee and Angus area has the right people with the right skills to take advantage of the opportunities that the future holds opportunities such as the city’s waterfront development which is predicted to create 7,000 jobs.”
Angela McCusker, chairman of the college board of management, said: “On behalf of the board of management I’m absolutely delighted to confirm that Grant Ritchie has been appointed to the position of principal.”
